Clip-In Macrame Hair Wraps | Choose Your Length & Colors

A clip-in macrame hair wrap gives you the look of a colorful, beaded hair wrap with none of the commitment. You choose the length and the colors, and I knot each one by hand using micro macrame, with accent beads, in small batches in Northern California. It clips in and out in seconds, so you can move it between hairstyles or take it out whenever you want.

They are lightweight and easy to clip in, and they look great with hair down, in a half-up style, or in a ponytail.

This post covers how sizes and colors work, a few favorite combinations, how to wear one, and answers to the questions I hear most.

Choose your length and colors

Every hair wrap starts with two choices: how long you want it and which colors go in it. Choose your size and colors on the product page.

Size Finished length
Short 8 in
Medium 14 in
Long 20 in
X-Long (pictured) 26 in

Lengths are measured without the clip and may vary slightly. Wraps start at $20, and because each one is hand-knotted, no two are exactly alike.

Choose from more than 20 cord colors, including solid colors and two- and three-color combinations. With more than one color, each color gets its own section, set off by a small accent bead. You also pick your clip color, in jet black, medium brown or beige, so it blends in with your hair.

Color combinations

Here are three looks from my own photos.

  • Green, yellow and red: bright and bold, shown here in X-Long.
  • Rust red and tan: warm and earthy, a good pair for fall.
  • Lavender with silver beads: soft and simple, with small silver tube beads.

How to wear it

A clip-in wrap goes in with a metal snap clip, so there is no braiding, no wrapping, and no skills required.

  1. Pick a small section of hair where you want the wrap to start.
  2. Open the snap clip, place it on that section close to the root, and snap it closed.
  3. Let the wrap hang down over your hair, and smooth the hair around the clip so it blends in.

A few ways to wear it:

  • Hair down, as pictured, for a long, colorful accent.
  • Tucked into a half-up style or a ponytail.
  • Two wraps in different colors for a layered look.
  • Paired with a macrame bun stick when your hair is up.

Questions

These are the questions I hear most about the hair wraps.

How do I care for it?

The wraps are made with nylon cord. [Add your care instructions.]

Will it work on my hair?

I would rather be upfront than sell you something that is not right for your hair. The metal snap clip holds securely all day without slipping, and you can choose a jet black, medium brown or beige clip to match your hair. [Add which hair lengths and textures you have tested the wraps on.]

Can I return or exchange it?

I do not offer returns or exchanges, so please double-check your size and colors before you order.

Where can I see them in person?

I sell at farmers markets and craft fairs across Northern California.
