Put your hair up into a bun however you normally do, whatever feels natural to you.
Start by sliding the dowel halfway through the macrame section of the bun stick.
Then insert the exposed end of the dowel underneath one side of your bun.
Scoop and slide the dowel underneath your bun.
You want to "scape your scalp" with the stick under your bun, this helps secure it.
Use your other hand to help guide the stick through and secure it in place.
