Will this work for fine or thin hair?
Yes! The Regular size is a favorite for fine and thin hair, as long as you can make a bun (even a small one), the stick will hold it. Since you can place the stick anywhere along the piece, you can adjust the tightness to fit your hair, giving fine or thin hair a secure, customized hold.
My clips always slip out. Will this stay?
That's exactly the problem this solves. The hand-knotted macrame texture grips your hair naturally, holding without pins, clips, or sprays. Since the stick can be placed anywhere in the piece, you can wear it as tight as you want, and the flexible macrame molds to your head for an even better grip.
Does it work for shoulder-length hair?
Yes, either size works. It's less about hair length and more about how thick your hair is. If you can gather it into a bun, the stick will hold it.
How do I choose between Regular and Grande?
If your ponytail is around 1 inch thick, choose Regular (best for most people). If your hair is thicker, closer to 2 inches or more around, go with Grande. For example, my hair is down to my lower back but isn't super thick, so I wear Regular and shape my bun more up/down than round, if I went for a rounder bun style, I'd size up to Grande.
How do I use it?
- Bun your hair up however you normally do.
- Start with your bun stick partially inserted, stick already through one side of the macrame.
- Then "scoop and scrape", scoop the stick along one underside of your bun and send it behind the bun, almost scraping your scalp, so the stick sits between the bun and your head.
- When you reach the other side, find a spot in the macrame that feels tight and send the stick through, you can put it anywhere in the piece except one capped spot that keeps it from sliding all the way out.
If your hair is finer, shorter, or more slippery, try starting the scoop lower, toward the bottom of your head, and scoop up and under your bun, this helps anchor it more securely.
